Terms of Service
Effective 13 October 2026 · Last updated 13 October 2026
The short version. These Terms are an agreement between you and the person who runs Life of Art. You must be 18 or older. Listening is free, and so is submitting music right now. If you submit a song, you promise it is yours to submit and you let us show it. Songs play on other platforms, not here. Do not break the law or misuse the service. We are a small service and limit our liability as far as the law allows. Indian law applies. This summary helps you find your way. It does not replace the Terms below.
1. About these Terms
1.1 Life of Art (the "Service") is a music service at lifeofart.app. It includes the web app, its public pages (such as song pages, the blog and the For Artists pages), the emails and notifications it sends, and any mobile app published under the Life of Art name.
1.2 The Service is operated by Yogesh N Biyani, an individual based in Surat, Gujarat, India ("we", "us", "our"). These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and us.
1.3 Our Privacy Policy, our Copyright and Content Removal Policy and our Grievance Redressal page form part of these Terms. Together they are our rules and regulations, privacy policy and user agreement for the purposes of rule 3(1) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 (the "IT Rules").
1.4 By creating an account, signing in, continuing as a guest, submitting music or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Who can use Life of Art
2.1 You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872. If you are under 18, do not use the Service.
2.2 You must not use the Service if we have suspended or banned you, or if the law that applies to you does not allow it.
2.3 If you use the Service for a business, or on behalf of an artist, band, label or anyone else, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms for them, and "you" includes them.
3. Your account
3.1 You can create an account with an email address and password, or with Google sign-in. You can also look around as a guest.
3.2 Give accurate information and keep your sign-in details safe. You are responsible for what happens on your account, unless it results from our failure to keep the Service reasonably secure. Tell us at support.lifeofart@gmail.com as soon as you think someone else has used your account.
3.3 Do not create an account for someone else, impersonate anyone, open more than one account to get around a limit, a suspension or the referral rules, or sell or transfer your account.
3.4 Guest access uses a random identifier stored in your browser. Guest activity can be lost if you clear your browser storage or change device, and some features need a full account.
4. What Life of Art does
4.1 Life of Art puts out a small set of songs each day. You can like songs, save them, share them, see what other listeners have liked and open songs on third-party streaming platforms.
4.2 Life of Art does not host, stream or sell audio. When you open a song, it plays on a third-party platform (for example Spotify, Apple Music or YouTube Music), and that platform's own terms apply. We do not control those platforms or whether a song stays available on them.
4.3 Song details (titles, artist names, cover art, genres, languages, release dates and links) come from public music databases, from streaming platforms and from artists. They can contain mistakes. You can report a problem with a song in the app, or write to us.
4.4 Which songs appear, and in what order, reflects our own choices and listening activity on Life of Art. A song's appearance is not an endorsement of the artist and says nothing about how the song performs anywhere else.
4.5 Parts of the Service are new. We may change, add or remove features, limit how often a feature can be used to keep the Service fair and reliable, or stop offering the Service. Where reasonable, we will give notice before we stop the Service.
5. Fees
5.1 The Service is free. You can listen and submit music without paying anything.
5.2 If we introduce a paid feature, we will show its price and terms, including how cancellations and refunds work, before you pay. We will never charge you without your express action. A paid feature will be governed by the terms we publish for it at that time.
6. Referral credits
6.1 You may earn credits by inviting people to Life of Art, or in other ways described in the app.
6.2 Credits are a promotional benefit. They have no cash value, are not money or a payment instrument, cannot be bought or sold, and cannot be exchanged for cash. You may give credits to another user only where the app offers that option.
6.3 Where the app shows credits as worth a discount (for example "₹90 off"), the discount applies only to fees for artist submissions, only if and when we introduce such fees, and only under the rules shown in the app at that time, including any limit on how much of a fee credits can cover. We do not promise to introduce fees.
6.4 We may refuse, reverse or cancel credits earned through fraud, self-referral, fake or duplicate accounts, or any breach of these Terms. We may change or end the credits programme. If we end it, we will tell you in the app and explain how existing credits will be treated.
6.5 Credits end when your account is deleted.
7. Submitting music
7.1 If you make music, or represent someone who does, you can submit a song that is already released on a streaming or store platform by giving us its details and a link to it. We do not accept audio files.
7.2 By submitting a song, you promise that:
- you are the artist, or you are authorised by the artist and every other rights holder to submit the song and its cover art and to grant the licence in clause 7.5;
- the song is lawfully released on the platform you link to;
- the details you give are accurate, and do not impersonate any artist or misstate who made the song; and
- the song, its title, its cover art and its details do not infringe anyone's rights and do not break clause 9.
7.3 A person reviews every submission. We may approve or decline any submission at our discretion, for example for fit, quality, accuracy or rights concerns, and we do not have to give reasons. We aim to review songs within a few days, but we do not promise a review deadline, approval, any number of listeners, likes, plays or placements, or any result on another platform.
7.4 You can withdraw a submission while it is waiting for review. After a song is approved, you can ask us to remove it at any time by writing to support.lifeofart@gmail.com from the email address on your account. We will remove it within 15 days.
7.5 For each approved song, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and link to the song's title, artist name, cover art, genres, language, release details and streaming links on the Service (including public song pages, emails, notifications and link previews), and to use them to promote the song and Life of Art. The licence lasts while the song is listed, plus a reasonable period to take it down from places we control. Promotional material already published before you ask us to remove a song may stay up.
7.6 You keep every right in your music. We get no rights in the sound recording or the composition, and nothing in these Terms makes us your publisher, label, distributor or agent.
7.7 We may limit how many submissions you can have waiting for review at one time.
8. Your content
8.1 "Your Content" means anything you send us through the Service, including song submissions, links, your display name, feedback, song reports and messages.
8.2 You own Your Content. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, format, display and use it to run, provide, improve and promote the Service as these Terms and the Privacy Policy describe. This licence ends when Your Content is deleted from the Service, except for copies we keep as the Privacy Policy explains and the licence for approved songs in clause 7.5.
8.3 If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.
8.4 We may review, refuse, remove or restrict access to Your Content that we reasonably believe breaks these Terms or the law, or that we are required to remove. We do not have to monitor content, but we may.
9. Rules everyone follows
9.1 You must not host, display, upload, modify, publish, transmit, store, update or share any information that:
- belongs to another person and to which you have no right;
- is obscene, pornographic, paedophilic, invasive of another person's privacy (including bodily privacy), insulting or harassing on the basis of gender, racially or ethnically objectionable, relates to or encourages money laundering, gambling or online money gaming, or is otherwise inconsistent with or contrary to the laws in force in India;
- is harmful to children;
- infringes any patent, trademark, copyright or other proprietary right;
- deceives or misleads anyone about the origin of a message, or knowingly and intentionally communicates misinformation or information that is patently false, untrue or misleading;
- impersonates another person, including through audio, images or video that are created or altered to look real (synthetically generated information);
- threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign States or public order, incites the commission of any cognisable offence, prevents the investigation of any offence, or insults another nation;
- contains a software virus or any other computer code, file or program designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer resource; or
- violates any law for the time being in force.
9.2 You must not:
- harass, threaten, abuse or intimidate anyone;
- use the Service for anything unlawful, fraudulent or deceptive;
- scrape, copy or collect data from the Service by automated means, except search engines that follow our robots.txt file;
- attack, probe, overload or interfere with the Service, get around any security measure, rate limit or access control (including our app attestation and reCAPTCHA checks), or reverse engineer the Service except where the law allows it;
- create fake accounts or fake activity, such as likes, referrals, reports or listens, or try to manipulate which songs appear or how they rank; or
- use the Service to send spam or unsolicited messages.
10. If these Terms are broken
10.1 If you do not comply with these Terms, our Privacy Policy or our other policies, we have the right to suspend or end your access to the Service immediately, to remove or disable access to the content concerned, or both.
10.2 If the breach involves creating, hosting, publishing, sharing or otherwise dealing with information in breach of any law in force, the user responsible may be liable to a penalty or punishment under the Information Technology Act, 2000 or any other applicable law.
10.3 Where a breach involves an offence that the law requires to be reported, such as under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 or the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, we will report it to the appropriate authority as that law requires.
10.4 We may keep the records concerned and cooperate with lawful requests from courts, police and government authorities.
10.5 Where it is reasonable and lawful, we will tell you what we did and why, and you can respond through our grievance process.
11. Our rights in the Service
11.1 The Service, including its software, design, text, selections, graphics, logo and the name "Life of Art", belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Song titles, artist names, cover art and other third-party material belong to their owners.
11.2 We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the Service for your own non-commercial use under these Terms. You are welcome to share links to the Service.
11.3 You must not copy, modify, distribute, sell or create derivative works from any part of the Service, except as these Terms allow or the law permits.
12. Third-party services and app stores
12.1 The Service links to and relies on third-party services, such as streaming platforms, Google sign-in and our hosting providers. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them, and we are not responsible for them.
12.2 Apple App Store. If you download a Life of Art app from the Apple App Store, these Terms are between you and us only, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and, to the maximum extent permitted by law, has no warranty obligation for it. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection claims and claims that it infringes a third party's intellectual property rights. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a United States Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
12.3 Google Play. If you download a Life of Art app from Google Play, the Google Play terms also apply to that download.
13. Copyright and other complaints
13.1 If you believe something on the Service infringes your copyright or other rights, or is unlawful, follow our Copyright and Content Removal Policy or contact our Grievance Officer as set out on our Grievance Redressal page. That page also gives the times within which we act.
14. Disclaimers
14.1 The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that its content will be accurate, or that it will meet your needs.
14.2 Songs, cover art and song details come from third parties. We do not endorse them and are not responsible for them, or for anything on the platforms a song links to.
14.3 Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited by contract under Indian law.
15. Limits on our liability
15.1 To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms.
15.2 To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms is limited to the higher of (a) the total amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim, and (b) ₹1,000.
15.3 Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.
16. Indemnity
16.1 To the extent the law allows, you agree to indemnify us against any claim, loss, liability, penalty or reasonable expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, Your Content (including any song you submit), or your violation of any law or of anyone's rights.
17. Ending your use
17.1 You can stop using the Service at any time, and you can delete your account in the app.
17.2 We may suspend or end your access as clause 10 describes, if a law, court or government authority requires it, or if we stop offering the Service.
17.3 Clauses that by their nature should continue after your use ends will continue, including clauses 7.5, 7.6, 8, 11, 14, 15, 16, 19 and 21.
18. If Life of Art moves to a company
18.1 We may transfer the Service, and our rights and obligations under these Terms, to a company or other entity that we control or that takes over the Service, including a company formed to own and run Life of Art. We will tell you in the app or by email before the transfer takes effect, and we will update these Terms to name the new operator. The new operator will then take our place under these Terms and our Privacy Policy, and your rights under them will not be reduced by the transfer.
18.2 You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms.
19. Governing law and disputes
19.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
19.2 Before starting any legal proceedings, please contact our Grievance Officer so that we can try to resolve the issue.
19.3 Subject to clause 19.4, the courts at Surat, Gujarat, have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service.
19.4 Nothing in this clause prevents you from appealing to the Grievance Appellate Committee, complaining to the Data Protection Board of India, or approaching a consumer commission or other authority, where the law gives you that right.
20. Messages from us
20.1 We may send you service messages by email, in the app or as a notification, such as sign-in and verification emails, decisions on songs you submit, and notices about changes to these Terms or our policies. These are part of the Service.
20.2 Other emails and push notifications, such as daily song reminders, are sent only if you turn them on, and you can turn them off at any time in the app.
21. General
21.1 Entire agreement. These Terms, with the policies they refer to, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
21.2 Severability. If any part of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
21.3 No waiver. If we do not enforce a provision, we can still enforce it later.
21.4 Events outside our control. We are not liable for any delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including outages of third-party services, natural disasters, government action or network failures.
21.5 Language. These Terms are written in English. If we provide a translation, the English version prevails if the two differ, unless the law requires otherwise.
21.6 Notices. We may give you notices by email to the address on your account or in the app. You can give us notices at support.lifeofart@gmail.com.
22. Changes to these Terms
22.1 We may update these Terms. We will publish the new version here with a new "Last updated" date.
22.2 If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 15 days before it takes effect, unless a law requires the change sooner or it is needed to deal with security or abuse.
22.3 If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and delete your account.
