Privacy Policy
Effective 13 October 2026 · Last updated 13 October 2026
The short version. We collect what Life of Art needs to work, to stay safe and to get better. We do not sell your data. There are no ads and no advertising or third-party analytics trackers. We never ask for your location, contacts or photos. A few trusted providers host and run the service, some of them outside India. You can see, correct and delete your data, and you can delete your account in the app at any time. Life of Art is for people aged 18 and over. This summary helps you find your way. It does not replace the policy below.
1. Who we are
Life of Art is operated by Yogesh N Biyani, an individual based in Surat, Gujarat, India ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains how we collect, use, share, store and protect personal data when you use lifeofart.app, its public pages, its emails and notifications, and any mobile app published under the Life of Art name (the "Service").
We follow the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it, including the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, and we are preparing for every obligation under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the "DPDP Act") and its Rules. Under the DPDP Act, we are the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described here, and you are the Data Principal.
Please read this policy with our Terms of Service.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
| Category | What it includes |
|---|---|
| Account | Your email address and password. Your password is handled by our sign-in provider (Firebase Authentication) and stored only in hashed form; we never see it. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. |
| Profile and preferences | The name you choose to be called, the genres and languages you like, how adventurous you want your picks to be, the streaming platforms you use, and your email and notification choices. |
| Artist submissions | The song title, artist name, links to the song on streaming or store platforms, an optional cover image link, genres and language, plus the review status and any note from the reviewer. We do not collect audio files. |
| Feedback and reports | Feedback you send (text, category and rating), and reports you make about a song. |
| Messages | Emails you send us, including grievances and requests about your data, and our replies. |
Information created as you use Life of Art
| Category | What it includes |
|---|---|
| Listening activity | Songs and artists you like and when you liked them, songs already shown to you and your daily picks (so you do not see repeats), and when you tap to open a song on a streaming platform. |
| Visits | The dates you visit, your visit streak, and small records of which tips or prompts you have already seen or dismissed. |
| Referrals and credits | Your referral code, the code you joined with (if any), who you invited, your credit balance and credit history, and any credits you give to another user. |
| Usage events | Short records of actions in the app, such as opening the daily songs, liking a song, tapping to listen, or viewing a screen. Each holds the action, your account identifier, a song or screen identifier, and the time. |
| Sign-in diagnostics | When a sign-in or a security check fails: the error code, the state of the security check, your browser and operating system, whether the app is open inside another app's browser, and a shortened browser identification string. Never your email address, password or sign-in tokens. |
| Notifications | If you turn on push notifications, a push token for your browser or device, and when we last sent you one. |
| Device and technical data | Your IP address, browser type, operating system and the pages or addresses requested. Our hosting and security providers process this to deliver the Service and protect it from abuse. |
If you are not signed in
When you open the Life of Art sign-in page, the app creates a random anonymous identifier in your browser and records that the page was viewed and whether you started to sign up or sign in. If you arrive through a shared link or an invite code and then create an account, that is noted on your account. If you continue as a guest, the app creates a separate random guest identifier. None of these contains your name or email address.
Security checks
To protect the Service from automated abuse, the web app uses Firebase App Check with Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information, such as device and application data and how you interact with the page, and sends it to Google to check that requests come from a genuine browser. Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply to that.
3. What we do not collect
We do not collect your precise location, your contacts, your photos or files, or your microphone or camera. We do not use advertising identifiers or advertising cookies. We do not ask for payment details, because nothing on Life of Art is paid. We do not ask for government identity numbers.
4. How we use it, and why
We use personal data only for the purposes below. We rely on your consent, which you give when you create an account or continue as a guest after being shown this policy, and on the legitimate uses the law allows, such as using information you have given us voluntarily for the purpose you gave it, and complying with the law.
| Purpose | Data used |
|---|---|
| Create and secure your account, sign you in and verify your email | Account, security checks, sign-in diagnostics |
| Run the Service: daily songs, likes, saved songs, the leaderboard and sharing | Profile and preferences, listening activity, visits |
| Choose songs that suit you and avoid repeats | Preferences, listening activity |
| Review artist submissions and tell you the decision | Artist submissions, account email |
| Run the referral and credits programme and prevent abuse of it | Referrals and credits, account |
| Send service emails, and the emails and push notifications you have turned on | Account email, notification choices, push token |
| Understand how the Service is used, find problems and improve it | Usage events, sign-in diagnostics, device and technical data |
| Keep the Service and its users safe: prevent spam, fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms and handle reports | Security checks, device and technical data, usage events, reports |
| Answer your messages, feedback, grievances and requests | Messages, feedback and reports |
| Comply with the law and with lawful requests from authorities | Whatever the law requires |
We will not use your personal data for a new purpose unrelated to these without telling you first and, where the law requires, asking for your consent. We do not use your data to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
5. What other people can see
- Your likes are counted together with everyone else's. Other users see totals, never who liked a song.
- If a song you submit is approved, its title, artist name, cover art, genres, language and links become public on Life of Art, including on a public web page for that song.
- Links you share from the app can contain your referral code, so the people you share them with can see it. The code does not show your name or email address.
- Your email address is never shown to other users.
8. Where your data is stored
Our providers store and process data on servers in India and in other countries, including the United States. We transfer personal data outside India only as Indian law allows, including any restrictions the Government of India notifies under the DPDP Act.
9. How long we keep it
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Your account, profile, likes, saved songs, submissions and feedback | While your account exists. When you delete your account in the app, these are deleted straight away. |
| Approved songs you submitted | The song stays listed after you delete your account, under the licence in our Terms, unless you ask us to remove it. We remove it within 15 days of your request. |
| Usage events and sign-in diagnostics in our database | Deleted or anonymised within 12 months of being recorded. |
| Usage events in our analytics store | Deleted automatically after about 3 months. |
| Song reports, referral, credit and gift records | Deleted or anonymised within 12 months after your account is deleted. They are linked only to a random account identifier. |
| Hosting and security logs | The short periods our providers set, usually a few days to a few weeks. |
| Backup copies | No more than 90 days. |
| Registration details of a deleted account (email address, account identifier, sign-in method and the date the account was created) | 180 days after the account is deleted, as rule 3(1)(h) of the IT Rules requires, only for investigation by lawful authorities. Then deleted, within a week. |
| Messages and grievances | As long as needed to deal with them and keep a record, generally no more than 3 years after the matter is closed. |
Where any other law requires us to keep information for longer, we keep only that information, only for the period and purpose the law sets. We may also keep information where it is needed to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.
10. Your rights and choices
You can:
- Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you, what we do with it, and who we have shared it with.
- Correct, complete or update it. You can change most preferences yourself in the app.
- Erase it. You can delete your account yourself in the app, or ask us to.
- Withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it, by deleting your account or writing to us. This does not affect what we did before you withdrew. Without the data the Service needs, we cannot keep providing it to you.
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to.
- Turn off emails and push notifications at any time in the app.
- Complain to our Grievance Officer, and then to the Data Protection Board of India where the law allows.
To use any of these rights, write to support.lifeofart@gmail.com from the email address on your account, and tell us which right you want to use. If you used Life of Art as a guest, include anything that helps us find your data. We may need to confirm your identity first. We acknowledge requests within 24 hours and respond within 7 days. If a request needs longer, we will tell you why and finish within 30 days.
11. Deleting your account
Open the app, go to Me, scroll to the bottom, choose Delete account and confirm. If you cannot sign in, email support.lifeofart@gmail.com from the address on your account. Our account deletion page explains exactly what is deleted and what is kept.
12. Children
Life of Art is only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has given us personal data, write to support.lifeofart@gmail.com and we will delete it.
13. How we protect your data
We use reasonable security practices, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), passwords stored only in hashed form by our sign-in provider, database rules that let each user reach only their own private data, restricted administrator access, app attestation checks, and providers that hold recognised security certifications. No system is completely secure. If a breach of personal data happens, we will act to contain it and inform affected users and the authorities as the law requires.
14. If Life of Art moves to a company
We plan to move Life of Art into a company that we will form to own and run it. If that happens, the company will take our place as the Data Fiduciary for your personal data, and will use it only as this policy describes. We will tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect and update this policy to name the company.
15. Grievance Officer and contact
| Grievance Officer | Yogesh N Biyani |
|---|---|

The same person answers questions about how we process personal data. Our Grievance Redressal page explains how complaints are handled and the times we follow.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the Service, our providers or the law change. We will publish the new version here with a new "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects how we use your personal data, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
