Cancellation and Refund Policy
If your song cannot go live, you get your money back (App Store: see Payments in the apps).
This policy covers the fee for submitting a song to Life of Art. It forms part of our Terms of Service. Listening on Life of Art is free, so there is nothing else to refund.
When you get a refund
| What happened | Refund |
|---|---|
| Your song does not pass review and cannot go live | The full fee, started automatically the moment we decide (App Store: see below). Any credits you used are returned to your account at the same time. |
| Your song has not been reviewed within 30 days of payment or, if later, submission | The full fee, if you ask us by email. |
| You were charged twice, or money left your account but no submission appeared in My Submissions | The extra or failed amount in full, whether or not you ask (App Store: see below). |
| Your song passes review and joins the catalogue | No refund. The fee paid for the review, and the review is done. |
| You change your mind after paying | No refund. A paid submission cannot be withdrawn, but it is still reviewed, and refunded in full if it cannot go live. |
| Your song is removed after going live because it broke our Terms, for example you did not have the rights to submit the song | No refund. |
Payments in the iPhone and Android apps
The table above applies to app payments, except that the money comes back as follows:
| Where you paid | How the refund works |
|---|---|
| Google Play | We refund it through Google Play automatically, to the payment method you used. Any credits you used come back at the same time. |
| App Store | Only Apple can refund App Store purchases. Tap Get your money back in My Submissions to ask Apple, or ask at reportaproblem.apple.com. If you agree, we tell Apple your song could not go live and that we support a full refund. Apple decides. Any credits you used come back straight away. |
| If Apple says no | Your next submission is free. It waits in the app for your next Submit and does not expire. If the refund was due because we did not review your song within 30 days of payment or, if later, submission, stopped taking submissions before reviewing it, or closed the Service while you had a paid submission ready, you can instead ask us to pay the amount back to you directly. We pay within 14 days after you send us the payment details we ask for. |
| A payment whose song did not go in | It waits as a paid submission ready, and your next Submit uses it. On the App Store you can ask Apple to refund it instead. On Google Play, Google refunds it automatically if no song uses it within 3 days. |
| A payment we need to check by hand | We sort it out and email you within 2 working days. |
Apple and Google may also refund under their own policies. The full rules are in our Terms of Service, clauses 5.8 to 5.12.
Cancelling
A submission fee is a single payment, not a subscription, so nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel later. If you close the payment window before paying, you are not charged.
How the money comes back
Refunds of website payments go to the same card, UPI account, bank account or wallet you paid with. We cannot send a refund anywhere else. Refunds of app payments are made by the store, as described above. Once a refund is started, banks usually take 5 to 7 working days to show it. My Submissions shows the refund's status, and we email you when your song is reviewed.
Credits used on a refunded submission come back as credits, not cash.
How to ask
Email support.lifeofart@gmail.com from the email address on your account, with the payment ID from your Razorpay receipt email (it starts with "pay_"), or, for a payment in the app, the order number on the receipt Apple or Google emailed you. We reply within 2 working days and, where a refund is due, start it within 2 working days of confirming.
