Our mission and vision
Most good music is not heard, and the reason is rarely the music. The mission of Life of Art fits in a sentence: give every artist who has not been found yet a fair listen, and give listeners a small daily set worth their time.
The problem we are working on
Music arrives faster than anyone can hear it. Luminate counted about 106,000 new tracks delivered to streaming services every day in 2025, and we looked at what that number means in how many songs are released every day. Something has to decide which of them reach a listener.
Research on recommendation systems finds that they tend to treat artists at different popularity levels differently: the already-popular get recommended more, and a new song has no history to be matched against. We explain how in how streaming algorithms decide what you hear. None of this means your song is not good. It means the song is missing the one thing those systems run on.
What we believe
Every artist starts at zero.
Your follower count, your label, and your budget are not part of review. A first release from a new name is heard the same way as an established artist's. No ranking decides you are too small to be here.
A person listens.
Every submission is played by a person before anything can go live. It is slower than automating it, and it is the reason "a person listens" means something here. What happens when you submit a song walks through it.
Nothing buys a spot.
There is no paid promotion and no featured slot. Whatever happens to your song here happens because of the song. Open submission only means something if there is no paid ranking behind it, so we hold both. See why no amount of money buys a spot here.
Small, on purpose.
Seven songs a day, and then it stops. A short, finished list gives each song a chance to be listened to properly before the next one. That is a better room for a new artist than a feed that never ends.
Honest numbers.
You see plain counts: how many listeners were shown your song, how many liked it, how many tapped through to listen. No vanity dashboard, and no reading a low number as a verdict on your music.
Made by people, for people who make things.
The name is a statement. What Life of Art means explains it. Music is where we start.
The vision
A listener should be able to hear a song from an artist nobody has heard of, and give it the same attention they would give a hit. An artist should be able to put a song in front of that listener without a label, a budget, or a following. When both of those are true, finding new music stops depending on who you know or what you can spend. That is the room we are trying to build, one day and seven songs at a time.
What Life of Art is not
- Not a streaming service. We do not play your audio. Listeners are sent to your song on the platform you chose.
- Not a label. We do not sign artists or own your music.
- Not a promise of success. We offer a fair listen, not a result.
Where it stands today
Life of Art is young and small. What is described in this section is what exists today. If something here stops being true, we will change the page.
