How submitting works
Submitting takes about a minute. Here is everything about it: what you need, each field in the form, what happens after you press the button, and what to expect whichever way the decision goes.
Before you start
- A free account. Email and password, or Google. On the sign-up page, choose "Share your music".
- A song that is already out. The form needs a link where people can listen.
- Optional: links to the same song on other platforms, and a link to a cover image.
You can look around as a guest, and the form will work for a guest, but make an account so we can reach you about your submission and it is never lost.
Where the form is
In the app, open the Artists tab and choose Submit a song.
The form, field by field
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Song title | Yes | Up to 100 characters. |
| Artist name | Yes | Up to 100 characters. Use the name listeners should see. |
| Main streaming link | Yes | A full web address where people can hear the song. The app recognizes Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, JioSaavn, Gaana, Hungama, Deezer, Tidal, Qobuz, Bandcamp, and SoundCloud, and labels the listen button with that platform's name. |
| Also on other platforms | No | Tap each platform the song is on and paste its link. Each link has to be from that platform's own site. A listener is sent to the platform they prefer when you have given us a link for it. |
| Cover image link | No | A web address for an image. Leave it blank and we make a plain cover from your title. |
| Genres | No | Choose any that fit: Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop/Rap, Electronic/Dance, R&B/Soul, Indie/Alternative, Jazz, Classical, Country, World. |
| Language | Yes | Choose one: English, Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Mandarin. |
As you fill it in, a preview shows how listeners will see the song. When you are ready, press Send it in.
What happens next
- It goes into a review queue. Publishing is not automatic. Your song waits for a person.
- A person plays it. The form says a person listens within a few days. We do not promise a deadline.
- A decision. Approved, or not selected. Either way, you hear from us.
What review is
A person plays the song, start to finish, the way a listener would. The reviewer has the song, your artist name, and the details from the form. Follower counts, verified badges, and track records are not in front of them. The question is narrow on purpose: is this song worth listening to?
Tracking your submission
Open My Submissions to see each song move through three stages: Submitted, In Review, and then Live or Not Selected. While a song is still pending, you can withdraw it.
The limits
- Up to five songs can be waiting for review at once. When one is decided, that place opens up.
- A submission cannot be edited once it is sent. If something is wrong, withdraw it and send it again.
If it is a yes
You get an email saying the song is live, and a push message if you have notifications on. It joins the catalog the daily seven is drawn from, with nothing marking it as a submission. What you get explains what happens from there.
If it is not selected
You get an email, and a note from the reviewer when there is one. It is one person's read of one song on one day, not a verdict on your music. Send another whenever you have one.
Tips for a clean submission
- Check the spelling of the title and your artist name. They appear exactly as typed.
- Use a link that goes straight to the song, not to a profile page.
- Pick the language the song is sung in, and genres that fit it honestly. Listeners choose by these.
- Add a cover image if you have one. Covers are shown as squares.
- Get your release details right first. Our guide to ISRC codes covers one that is easy to get wrong.
