Names on apps usually don't mean much. This one does, so it's worth explaining rather than leaving it as a nice-sounding phrase on a login screen.

The problem the name is pointing at

A huge amount of what fills feeds, playlists, and search results now is generated, not made. That's not a complaint about technology in general. It's a fact about where a lot of content now comes from, and that share is only going to grow. Human-made art doesn't stop existing because of that, but it does get harder to find inside all the rest of it. A song someone wrote, recorded, and released has a life behind it, a person who made a choice about a lyric, a chord, a mix decision, at a specific moment. That's the thing worth protecting and surfacing, not just "content" in some generic sense. Every song on this app was made and released by a person, one you can look up, not generated for the feed.

What that turns into in practice

It's why every submission gets listened to by a person before it goes live, not scored by a model. It's why the daily feed is a small, fixed set of songs instead of an infinite scroll optimized to keep you tapping. It's why there's no algorithm quietly deciding what you see based on engagement signals. None of those are neutral technical choices, they're all downstream of the same idea: keep the human part of "made this" intact, all the way from an artist's upload to what shows up in your feed.

It's not finished, and it's not just about music

Music is where this starts because it's the clearest, most testable version of the idea, a song either exists and was made by someone or it didn't. The same problem exists in writing, photography, and other art forms too, and the honest answer is that this app hasn't built for those yet. What exists today is a working version of the idea for music, not a finished vision of everything the name implies.
